The carefully designed backdrop to ‘Jobsworth’, for which we were complimented!

Fred Nesbitt (Neil Hardinge) and Bill Turner, the caretaker (Martin Wellen) start with a mug of tea. We learn that there is to be a one-act play competition in the building.

Greta Thackeray (Karina Farnlucher) wants to know where all the scenery has gone. She’s told it was moved for safety reasons

The vicar (Jane Fryer) says she’ll help Greta get it back

Meanwhile Hilary Hooker (Sarah Horne) and Claire Partridge (Jo Levy) come looking for their own scenery …

… soon to be followed by the WI President, Brenda Pressing (Lisa Osborne-Lea) also on the hunt for theirs. The vicar tries to pour oil on troubled waters

Bill shows them his schedule – according to him none of them should be there!

Mavis Waller (Caroline Stephenson) tries on her ass head to Fred’s amazement

Mrs Pressing is pressing Greta for answers to her problems

The vicar tells Bill that the adjudicator is not happy with his table, but she’ll get him another one

Claire and Hilary discuss their show

Mavis is worried about her part as Bottom, but Brenda gives her no sympathy

The vicar welcomes the audience to the One-Act Play Competition

It does not go well for certain people, but Bill remains sanguine

Mavis is despondent – her Bottom was interrupted!

Fred had dressed up to take Rose to the show. He tells Bill how much he enjoyed it

But apparently Fred had enjoyed it for all the wrong reasons …

… and Bill is bombarded with a procession of complaints

Greta, the organiser, consoles herself that it’s all over – but hopes that the piece of scenery that Fred had used to mend Rose’s fence won’t get noticed!

The cast take their bow

Nick & Tina thank the real audience at the end
