Green Room June 2026

The final running order

Photos taken by several members

Act 1

Jo Smith opening the show discusses the variable nature of the running order!

First up were Dave & Sarah Horne with “Annie’s Going to Sing her Song”

Mel followed telling the dramatic tale of “The Tripe Rush”

Nick, Tina & Pru gave us the first of their Improv sketches.
(Nick is a fireplace and the girls are performing as cats).
[Three subjects were randomly drawn out of a bowl by the audience for these sketches]

Kathryn bravely did “Dirty Dancing”, once we’d sorted out the sound system
(Karina has added a far better backdrop to this than we actually had on the night!!)

Dil sang “Fields of Gold” to Sarah’s accompaniment

We were treated to a piano duet “Spanish Dance No.2” by Sarah and Angela

Then the second of their improv sketches by Nick, Tina & Pru. In this Nick is a tree and the girls play at being dogs

Neil Niblock came in as a late replacement, and gave us “The Ministry of Comedy” monologue that he’d just written.
At one point he was standing on the chair!

And we finished the first half of the show with ‘The Green Room Choir’ singing “White Van Man”, a parody of a well-known Beatles song. L to R: Dave (on guitar), Mel, Sarah, Jo Levy, Dil, Deb, Karina & Annaliese.

Act 2

We started the second half with a couple of Monkees songs from the Guitar Club: “Daydream Believer” & “I’m a Believer”
L to R: Mel, Annaliese & Karina …

… accompanied by Jo Smith on bass and Sarah on piano.

David Irwin & Lisa Osborne-Lea entertained us with a sketch based on the Mum’s Army one-act we did last year. Here, Mrs Gray contemplates what might have been with Pte Godfrey. (What amazed us all was that the excellent script had been generated entirely by using AI.)

Dil and Jo (aka Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood) gave us “Did You Ever”, accompanied by Dave Horne.

Deb then gave us “Tired of Travelling Alone”, something she’d never played before. That’s what green rooms are for!!

The in the third and last of their improv spots, Nick, Tina & Pru are working with a chair (Pru in this case) a Sweet Shop and a Model

Sarah and Angela gave us a sketch on “Skin Care”, in which a large magnifying glass featured prominently.

Nick gave us “Words” (not the Boyzone version!) and a Music Hall version of “Side by Side”.

Barbara Parry, fresh back from Australia, and David Burnham gave us JJ Cale’s “After Midnight” and Don McLean’s “American Pie”.

And to wind it all up, the Green Room Choir were back with Rutter’s “For the Beauty of the Earth”.
This was performed as a tribute to Rod Sharp who had requested it to be sung at his Memorial Service earlier in the year, but nobody knew it then. They had since ‘done their homework’ and sang it beautifully tonight.
