The Poster

What you need to know if you want to be part of the production.

The play tells the story of 20-year-old Flora arriving in Grayshott to take up her first permanent job in the post office. The characters depicted in the show really existed. Some we know more about than others. Some are given their true names and some the pseudonyms which Flora gave them when she later wrote her book ‘Heatherley’ about her time here.

We’ll be performing it ‘in the round’ and touring to five different locations (see poster). There will be a live band playing appropriate music between scenes.

Here are: the latest script, the character descriptions and the cast list.

Important: Keep checking for the latest rehearsal schedule.

You may like to look at photos from the last time we performed this play, 20 years ago.

Or the video we made of the very first production in 1998.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with Jo Smith who is directing the play.

And for some background, listen to Jo’s recent interview with a man from Buckingham Museum about how his interest in Flora Thompson’s life developed.
