The set of ‘Streuth!’
Note the (intentionally) missing flat to the left of the French windows. This will arrive during the course of the play, and then need to be propped up by the Maid

Angela Berry opens proceedings, manipulating the misbehaving ‘thermometer’ showing money so far collected for church funds.

The curtains open – but where’s the body?

The curtains open again, and there’s the body!

The Inspector (Mike Pennick) questions the cast:
(L to R) Thomas Hiller, Karina Farnlucher, Martin Wellen, Cavan Syrad. The victim was ‘loved by all’ except for his step-brother Rupert.

The maid (Annaliese Farnlucher) gives evidence with the Cook (Mavis Standing) looking on.

The questioning continues … with some scripted prompting (from Dil Williamson-Smith)

The Cook says she saw a man with a ‘great black beard’.

The Vicar (Jo Smith) with a great black beard arrives, though not through the French windows as intended – he has to burst through the fireplace (sadly we didn’t get a shot of this) – and note the maid is now holding up the mobile flat.

The Inspector is interrupted by a random phone call.

He accuses the vicar of ‘hiding something’.

The Vicar is that rogue ‘Rupert’ in disguise, and he has the Will in hand!

Sadly the cast get into a loop with their lines … and the curtain closes on a sad scene of confusion.

The platoon line up in the entrance hall ready to march up to the stage – L to R: Pte Walker (Mike Pennick), Pte Godfrey (David Irwin), Pte Pike (Rufus Kendall), Cpl Jones (Neil Hardinge) and Pte Frazer (Martin Wellen).

Up on stage the platoon is inspected by Capt Mainwaring (Nick Webb) and Sgt Wilson (Jo Smith).

Wilson looks on in wonder as the Captain explains about starting a women’s section.

The men each bring a lady along: Cpl Jones brings Mrs Fox (Karina Farnlucher).

Pte Pike brings Ivy Samways (Caroline Stephenson). |

Pte Frazer promises to bring a ‘fine, firmly-built girl.

Pte Walker brings Edith Parish (Kathryn Kendall), an usherette at the cinema. |

After everyone else has gone, Mrs Gray arrives – and takes a fancy to Capt Mainwaring, eventually asking him to remove his spectacles!

Next day, Capt Mainwaring attempts to instruct the ladies in the ‘rudiments of foot drill’. It doesn’t go well. |

Cpl Jones has an idea how to teach them their left from their right – with hay and straw on their shoes.

in Ann’s Pantry, the waitress (Sarah Horne) sets the tables. |

Pte Godfrey is there reading a paper of the times. |

Mrs Gray and Capt Mainwaring meet ‘by chance’ and share a table. |

One by one members of the platoon pass by – first Pte Godfrey, on his way to the clinic. |

… then Pte Walker delivering ‘a bit of the sweet stuff’ |

… then Cpl Jones with a Mrs Prosser (Mavis Standing) |

… who go to share a table of their own. |

Capt Mainwaring gets called away by Pike (not shown here) and Mrs Gray is left to pay the bill. |

A few days later the men and women of the platoon discuss the affair brewing between the Captain and Mrs Gray. |

Sgt Wilson overhears, and decided to confront Mainwaring. |

Mainwaring discovers that Mrs Gray hasn’t turned up, and was seen taking her luggage to the station. |

We see Mrs Gray arrive at the station and buy a cup of tea. |

Mainwaring rushes in and tries to persuade her not to leave … |

… but to no avail. |

The platoon lies up to salute with Mainwaring’s at his sad moment. |
